A series of HPW/CeO2 composite materials were synthesized and used for adsorption and decomposition of NOx. The synthesized HPW/CeO2 were characterized by XRD, FTIR and BET. The denitrification performance of HPW/CeO2 was determined by the dynamic NOx adsorption study along with various relevant factors. The results of IR characterization show that the adsorbed NOx enters the bulk phase of HPW and replaces the crystal water to combine with its protons to form NOH+. The optimal saturated NOx adsorption amounts of HPW/CeO2 systems (85.6 mg NO2 g-1) is much higher than that of HPW (50.5 mg NO2 g-1). The GC-MS detection showed that the adsorbed NOx can be reduced to N2 by the temperature programming process.
