Linear Logic and Defeasible Logic have been adopted to formalise differentfeatures of knowledge representation: consumption of resources, and nonmonotonic reasoning in particular to represent exceptions. Recently, aframework to combine sub-structural features, corresponding to the consumptionof resources, with defeasibility aspects to handle potentially conflictinginformation, has been discussed in literature, by some of the authors. Twoapplications emerged that are very relevant: energy management and businessprocess management. We illustrate a set of guide lines to determine how toapply linear defeasible logic to those contexts.
