新生子豚の尿酸結石症の発生状況と発症子豚の臨床及び血液生化学的検査成績から病因として考えられた飢餓及び低体重と尿酸結石症の発症との関連性を検討した。その結果、1)野外においては本症は希な疾病ではなく、飢餓、低体重及び寒冷感作がその発症に関与していると考えられた。2)本症の発生には肝機能と腎機能の低下、ウリカーゼ活性の低下、飢餓に伴う乳酸アシドーシスと体蛋白の異化亢進が関与していると考えられた。3)新生子豚の尿酸結石症の発生は出生後の飢餓によるプリン異化代謝産物の増加が関与していることが考えられた。4)飢餓によるプリン代謝(尿酸代謝)の亢進は尿酸の尿中排泄と濃度を増加させ、尿中乳酸濃度の増加は尿pHの低下に影響していることが考えられた。以上のことから、新生子豚の尿酸結石症は飢餓によりプリン代謝(尿酸代謝)が亢進し、尿中への尿酸分泌が増加することにより発生すると考えられた。
