目的 男らしい服装・女らしい服装のイメージを測定するための尺度を作成し, その尺度を用いて, 現代社会における男らしい服装・女らしい服装のイメージの男女間の差異を検討する.成果 イメージ用語63語について, 男らしい服装・女らしい服装のイメージを男女の学生および社会人に7段階で評定させた.得られた評定値をもとに因子分析を行い, それらのイメージの構造を検討した.その結果, (1) 『美― 繊細』, (2) 『目立ち』, (3) 『カジュアル性』, (4) 『洗練性』, (5) 『保守性』の5因子を抽出した.この結果をもとに, さらに相関分析, G-P分析を行い, 5つの次元, 各次元6項目ずつ計30項目からなる男らしい服装・女らしい服装のイメージを測定するための尺度を作成した.作成した尺度を用いてそれらのイメージの男女間の差異を検討した.男らしい服装のイメージでは, 男女いずれも『洗練性』『カジュアル性』を重視し, 『保守性』, 『美― 繊細』, 『目立ち』をあまり重視していない.しかし『美― 繊細』については, 女性よりも男性の方がやや高い尺度得点を示し, 男性の服装に対する意識の変化が認められた.女らしい服装のイメージでは, 男女いずれも『洗練性』, 『カジュアル性』を重視し, 『美― 繊細』, 『目立ち』については, 重視しているとはいうものの『洗練性』, 『カジュアル性』よりも低い尺度得点を示した.この結果によって, 女らしい服装のイメージの変化が認められた.
