The factors affecting the degradation of wet granule properties due to pneumatic conveying has been investigated. The contact of granules with pipe inner wall has been identified as the most serious deteriorating factor. In order to evaluate the influence of granule-contact with the pipe wall on granule properties, pneumatic conveying test has been carried out and the change in physicochemical properties of granules has been investigated by varying the pass-through number from one to 20 for a given conveying pipeline. As a result, by increasing the pass-through number, the granule size, the angle of repose and the dissolution rate were decreased, whereas the apparent density was increased. SEM photographs of granules demonstrated a substantial surface change of granule due to pneumatic conveyance.
