The reduction roasted pellets which were used in tests were taken from continuous operation with the A. V. Kiln in the pilot plant and batch tests of the tube furnace in labotatory. Metallic nickel and cobalt in the roasted pellet were dissolved easily under the aeration, on the other hand, dissolved ferrous ions were perfectly rejected as the precipitation of either ferric hydroxide or goethite at pH 3.5-4.5 and 50-70°C of the leaching temperature. In sulfuric acid leaching process to the roasted pellets in which were reduced with the A. V. Kiln, nickel and cobalt leaching ratios based on Ni0 and Co0 to the limonitic roasted pellet were 95% and 99% respectively, and these leaching ratios to the saprolitic roasted pellet were 90% and 100% respectively. After 3 hours of the aeration - Fe2+ ions were fixed as FeO. OH and Fe (OH)3 - iron content in the leach liquor could not be detected.
