分子構 造 を調べ る上 で,赤 外吸収 法 は最 も古 くか ら利 用 されて きた手法 の1つ で ある。 本法で は,分 子の骨格 振動 を光励起 す る際 の直接吸収 を測定す るため,他 の振 動分光 法に比べ て測 定原理が極 めて単純で あ る。 しか も, 分子構造,こ とに官 能基の存在 の有無,さ らにはその分 子 の置 かれて いる周 囲の状況(分 子 間相互作 用 を通 して) な どに関す る情報 が豊富 に含 まれてお り,ス ペ ク トルを 解 析す るこ とによ り分子構造 に関 してかな り詳細 な知 見 が得 られ る。 この優 れた手法 を電 極 ―溶液界 面 に適 用 し, 原子 ・分 子 の吸着 構造 を調 べ よ う とす る試 み も,し た がって 当然 早 くか らな され1L2),現 在 で は固液 界面 のiπ si劾測定法 としてす っか り定着 して い る。優 れた総 説や 解説 も数 多 く出 され てい る3トη。本稿 で は,ま ず は じめ に赤外分光法 を固液界面 に適用す る場合 の一般的 な測定 原理 ・方法 について述べ た後,最 近 の研 究例,特 に有機 分子の吸着状 態に主眼 を置 いて概説 し,さ らに時 間分解 測定法や表面増 強効果 を利 用 した方法 な どについて も触 れ る。
