The present work sought to analyze the inadequate use of permanent preservation areas (PPA)according to the environmental legislation of the Stream Três Barras watershed Botucatu (SP) through the use of Geographical Information System SIG Idrisi Andes 15.0 and of digital satellite image. The area with 1639,19ha, locates among the plane coordinates: 763968 to 768484 of longitudes W and 7471516 to 7476168 of latitude S. The map of soil use of 2006 was obtained starting from the classification supervised in digital satellite image of 23/10/2006. In the digital identification of the objectives the interpretation keys were used for images and the certain areas through the software SIG Idrisi. The area of PPA discriminated along the drainage net was of 137,93ha (8,41%). However, 40,68ha of the area of PPA are busy with pasture (19,08%), irrigated rice (8,61%, annual culture (0,91% and reforestation (0,89%) in an inadequate way (I conflict). Therefore, 70,51% of area of PPA have been used partially appropriately.
