1.は じめ に 屋根雪による建築構造物の被害調査報告例えば に よれば,被 害の原因として建物の老朽化,設 計 ・施 工 ・管理の不備が挙げられるが,最 大の要因は予想 を上回る過大な屋根雪重量であったことが指摘され る場合が多い。これらの積雪被害を未然に防ぐため には設計用の屋根雪荷重(以 下,雪 荷重と記す)を 適切に設定しなければならない。雪荷重評価におい ては,そ の基礎となる地上雪および屋根雪に関する 様々な情報が必要である。筆者 らは,前 者に関連す るものとして「降水量と気温資料に基づく地上積雪 重量の推定法」を,後 者に関連するものとして 「空 中写真測量技術を応用した屋根雪深さの観測法」を 提案した。この度,こ れ らの研究成果に対し,上 記 の標題名で日本雪工学会賞 ・学術賞を頂いた。本稿 では,提 案する方法の概要,最 近の研究の現状およ び今後の課題などを述ベる。
