espanolLa hipotesis que verifica la correspondencia de rasgos funerarios Chinchorro del norte de Chile con el sur de Peru postula que los entierros en posicion extendida y colectivos de Ilo (sur de Peru) formarian parte de la tradicion Chinchorro. Se resumen dos posiciones que han venido tratando el tema Chinchorro en los ultimos anos, una enfocada a un origen con elementos culturales vinculados a una influencia externa, frente a otra de caracter mas bien local. Entierros extendidos de la epoca, en el sur de Peru (Villa del Mar, Kilometro 4 y Yara), con rasgos comunes a las momias naturales de Arica, hacen posible la revision de cambios y permanencias traducidas en la variacion de tres indicadores antes no previstos en los entierros de la costa norte de Chile: (a) Anillo de piedras alrededor de la cabeza, (b) ubicacion de la mano sobre el pubis y (c) flanqueo de craneos a los costados de los cuerpos extendidos. Se concluye con tres posibilidades a tomar en cuenta:(a) que la tradicion funeraria Chinchorro tiene otros aspectos aun no previstos para la zona nuclear (Arica); (b) que las diferencias indican una presencia minima de componentes Chinchorro en la zona de Ilo; o (c) que la costa del extremo sur del Peru es un espacio cultural temprano donde confluyen aspectos culturales de distintas tradiciones funerarias (rasgos mortuorios Chinchorro y la tradicion funeraria de los Andes Centrales) logrando entierros con caracteristicas mixtas EnglishA hypothesis is presented that there is a correspondence of Chinchorro funerary features from northern Chile to southern Peru that includes collective and extended burials in Ilo (southern Peru) as part of the Chinchorro tradition. Summarized are two positions addressed in recent years; one focused on Chinchorro cultural elements linked to external influences, and the other focused on internal characteristics. Burials have been located in southern Peru (Villa del Mar, Kilometro 4 and Yara) with features common to the natural mummies of Arica, but with variations not previously seen in burials from the northern coast of Chile. These unique characteristics include: (a) ring of stones around the head, (b) location of the hand on the pubis, and (c) skulls at the sides of the extended body. Three possibilities need to be considered: (a) that the Chinchorro burial tradition has not yet been characterized outside the nuclear area (Arica), (b) that the differences indicate a minimal presence of Chinchorro components in the area of Ilo; or (c) that the southernmost coast of Peru, is at the confluence of different funerary traditions, with burials representing mixed mortuary characteristics of the Chinchorro and of those from the Central Andes
