Este articulotiene por obje'o hccer una actualizacion sobre el sistema horrnona de crecimiento (GH)-efector. Se reviscn losmecanismos de control hipotalamico de la secreoon de GH (factor liberador de GH y somatostatina], secrecionhipofisiaria de GH, la proteina ligadora de GH (GHBP), el receptor de GH y sus efectores perifericos (IGFs e IGF3PS).Se ana'izan ias repercusiones clinicas de las olteraciones de coda uno de estos componentes, que pueden conducir auna folio en e! crecimiento durance la infancia.(Palabras clave: crecimiento, receptores de hcrmona de crecimiento.] Growth hormone-effector systems role in children's growth Growl- failure is a frequent occurrence pediatrics. During the last decade trere nave been important advances inour undersrcnding of the hormonal mechanisms which regulate growth during childhood. The goal of this article is tooffer an update aoout the growth hormone |GH)-efector system. We review the mechanisms which underlie thenypothalarnic control of growth hormone secretion [GH releasing Factor and somatostatin], pituitary secretion of GH,GH binding protein |GHBP|, GH receoto- and its oeripheral efeclors (IGFs and IGFBPS).
