White clover (Trifolliurn repens) is a stoloniferous legume, introduced into temperate pastures to improve the quality of fodder. It bears adventitious roots at each node. The effect of preventingnodal root formation invarious ranks- of stolons imain, primary, and main + primary) on growth and branching was studied. Reduced growth and branching were observed following prevention of . nodal root formation. Reduction was predominantly due to the treatments for prevention of root formation on the main stolon.
