The individual social representation about the environment may influence the management of environmental problems. The objective of the present study was to identify the social representation of environmental problems and confrontation form of quilombola women of Patioba community, Sergipe. This is a qualitative approach study, using a participatory methodology, with a sample of 20 women older than 18 years. The results had evidenced the participation of women aged 24 to 54 years, mostly married, average schooling, householdoccupation and family income up to a minimum wage. Access to clean water, basic sanitation and garbage collection is precarious in this community. The social representation of environmental problems seems to point to an environmental imbalance perception by the participants of Patioba Community.
