State analysis by XMA was performed to investigate the distribution of Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 in minute areas of oxidation zones formed on gold alloys containing small amounts of Fe and Sn, oxidized at 1000°C in air for 1hr.In the Fe-rich composition range, the core of oxides precipitated at the grain boundaries is composed of Fe2O3, and SnO2 is formed around this core. Fe3O4 which is formed in only the Sn-rich composition range is mainly distributed in the region near the oxidized surface.
