O artigo analisa a interacção de diversos factores que, relacionados com transformações socioculturais recentes, contribuem para a centralidade da música e de outras formas de expressão estética em processos de rearticulação das identidades, no âmbito dos quais se observa um renovado interesse pelas manifestações populares tradicionais e a dinamização de espaços urbanos. Buscando a comparação com outros contextos, toma-se como ponto de partida o estudo do movimento manguebeat, de Recife, Pernambuco, cujos elementos permitem a discussão de questões ligadas às relações entre o local e o global, a tradição e a modernidade, a criação e a fruição cultural. A pesquisa confirmou algumas tendências da música contemporânea, que colocam certas formas musicais regionais em sintonia com as transformações do campo musical em geral. Uma questão chave é a dos processos de ressignificação das culturas populares.This article analyses the interaction among several factors which, related to recent socio-cultural changes, contribute to the centrality of music and other forms of aesthetic expression in processes of re-articulating identities, within which we can observe renewed interest in traditional popular manifestations and the energising of urban spaces. Seeking to compare with other contexts, this article starts from a study of the Recife, Pernambuco, manguebeat movement, whose elements allow for a debate of issues linked to relations between the local and the global, tradition and modernity, cultural creation and enjoyment. Research has confirmed a number of trends in contemporary music, which places certain regional musical forms in unison with changes in the musical domain in general. A key issue is that of processes of re-signification of popular cultures.Cet article analyse l’interaction des divers facteurs qui, liés aux transformations socioculturelles récentes, créent une place centrale pour la musique et d’autres formes de l’expression esthétique dans le processus de la réarticulation des identités, à propos duquel on peut constater un intérêt renouvelé par les manifestations populaires traditionnelles ainsi que par la dynamisation des espaces urbains. Cherchant la comparaison avec d’autres contextes, nous choisirons ici, comme point de départ, l’étude du mouvement manguebeat, de Récife (capitale de Pernambouc), dont les éléments constitutifs permettent de discuter les questions liées aux rapports entre le local et le global, la tradition et la modernité, la création et la jouissance culturelle. La recherche constate certaines tendances de la musique contemporaine qui s’accordent avec certaines formes musicales régionales des transformations du champ musical en général.
