Cet article se propose d’analyser l’influence croissante des épreuves standardisées internationales (PISA ...) sur la certification à l’échelle locale. À l’origine, ces épreuves standardisées internationales visent à comparer les performances des élèves d’un pays à l’autre pour réguler les systèmes éducatifs. Elles ne sont pas initialement prévues pour la certification. Cependant, leur influence est telle que, imperceptiblement, elle s’étend aux contenus des épreuves certificatives locales, et même des procédures d’évaluation. Elles contribuent ainsi indirectement à modifier profondément les représentations des acteurs à propos de la certification. L’article comprend cinq étapes. Tout d’abord, nous évoquons l’origine des épreuves standardisées. Ensuite, nous analysons la notion de qualité qui est véhiculée à travers elles. Par après, nous analysons consécutivement les avantages (un reflet de la qualité des systèmes éducatifs, une base pour leur régulation ...) et les limites (une amélioration de la concurrence en matière d’éducation, une perte d’identité, un détournement de la fonction sociale de l’école ...) de ce système. Enfin, nous développons l’idée selon laquelle l’évaluation standardisée fonctionne comme si elle était dans une « bulle » créée artificiellement, avant de conclure en abordant la question de la trajectoire prise par les systèmes éducatifs aujourd’hui. This article aims to analyze the growing influence of international standardized tests (PISA...) on local certifications. Originally, these international standardized tests aim to compare student performance in the different countries so as to enable countries to enhance the effectiveness of their educational systems. They are not originally planned to certify student achievement. However, their influence is such that, imperceptibly, it extends to the contents of the local assessing students’ achievement, and even to the evaluation procedures. Generally speaking, they indirectly contribute to profoundly alter the representation that the people involved have of certification. This article proceeds in five steps. First, we present the origin of such standardized tests, both national and international. Second, we question the idea of quality that is associated with those surveys. Third and fourth, we consecutively analyze the advantages (an analysis of the quality of the educational systems, a basis for their regulation …) and the limits (an enhancement of competition in education, a loss of identity, a diversion of the social function of school…) of this system. Fifth, we develop the idea of an artificial “standardized evaluation bubble”, before addressing the question of the trajectory taken by the education systems today
