En Algérie du Nord, les mouvements de terrain jouent un rôle prépondérant dans l'évolution des versants. Les études géologiques et géotechniques du terrain sont le plus souvent motivées par la recherche de solutions à apporter à un mouvement déclaré. Ainsi l'objectif de ce manuscrit est d'étudier la stabilité du remblai de la section d'autoroute de contournement de Bouira. Les calculs de stabilité ont permis de conclure à une rupture de type circulaire et à une rupture de type plan dont la surface se situerait à environ 7 à 8 mètres de profondeur sous la base du remblai. Le mouvement de terrain a été favorisé par quatre principales raisons : 1) l'action de l'eau dans le remblai et dans le substrat altéré a engendré des pressions interstitielles supérieures à la résistance au cisaillement, permettant le développement des forces motrices nécessaires au déplacement, 2) les matériaux argileux du versant présentent des caractéristiques physiques favorables aux mouvements de terrain, 3) le versant avait déjà subi des déformations, et 4) les aménagements, les travaux de déblaiement et le poids du remblai ont dérangé l'équilibre précaire du versant. Les mesures inclinométriques et piézométriques effectuées pour confirmer la nature et la délimitation de la zone de glissement, ont révélé des déformations du matériau support de l'ordre de 2 à 4 cm par mois. Les solutions techniques envisagées pour assurer la stabilité du site sont des aménagements de confortement, comme le changement de géométrie pour réduire la hauteur du remblai immédiatement à l'est du glissement, la mise en place d'un système de drainage et la stabilisation par un rideau de pieux. In the north of Algeria, mass-movements have a dominating part in the evolution of the slopes. The geological and geotechnical investigation of the ground is generally justified by the search of solutions to bring to a declared movement. Thus, the objective of this paper is to study the stability of the embankment of the Bouira East-West highway by-pass, which has been subjected to several geotechnical expertises. This geotechnical recognition related to the realization of five cored surveys, seven surveys with the static penetrometer and of the laboratory tests. The calculations of stability made it possible to lead to a rupture of the circular type and with a rupture of the plane type whose recorded safety factors are weak more. Calculations in plane and circular ruptures highlight a potential deep instability of subjacent clays under the effect of the circulation of water. To confirm the nature and the delimitation of the zone of slip in-length and in-depth, measurements by inclinometers and piezometers were carried out regularly. The evolution of the deformations of the material support is about 2 to 4 cm each month. Many technical solutions have been worked out for the stability of site by reinforcing installations, as the change of geometry to reduce immediately the height of the embankment to the east of the slip, design of a system of draining and finally stabilization by a curtain of piles
