International audienceThis article offers a critical discussion of the central theme of this issue of Etudes de communication. We highlight the complex nature of the ongoing reconfiguration of television in the digital age, a multifaceted process that affects the entire media chain. Faced with the challenge of Internet, television strives, through mechanisms of resistance and adaptation, to maintain its dominant position and has undertaken an in-depth transformation of its relationship to programs, to viewers and to other audiovisual media including new digital technologies.
