Efficient syntheses of some 4-thiazolidinones are described. A series of 2-(substituted phenyl)-3- (4-(2,4-dichloro-5-fluorophenyl)-6-(2-thienyl)pyrimidine-2-yl-ureido)-5H/methyl/carboxymet- hyl-4-thiazolidinones 5a-e,6a-e,7a-e were prepared. The structures of the synthesised compounds were assigned on the basis of elemental analysis, IR and 1 H NMR spectral data. All the products were screened against different strains of bacteria and fungi.
