A series of 6-azacytosines were prepared by nucleophilic cleavage of the furan ring of phenyl derivatives of naphto[1 ́,2 ́:4,5]furo[2,3-e][1,2,4]triazines. Some were then used for the preparation of 1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-d][1,2,4]triazines and tetrazolo[1,5-d] [1,2,4]triazines.
