CIRCSCirculatory Risk in Communities Studyは秋田茨城大阪高知の5 地域住民約1万2 千人を追跡するコホート研究であるそのうち秋田大阪については1963 年に追跡を開始しておりわが国の現存する大規模コホート研究のなかでは最古のグループに属する研究と位置づけられるベースライン調査は共通の方法で毎年行っておりその都度新しい調査項目を盛り込んで脳卒中と虚血性心疾患の発症を追跡している本稿ではCIRCS の特徴と研究から得られた脳卒中の新しい生活習慣因子や生活習慣関連バイオマーカーについて特に脂質に関連する要因を中心に概説するCIRCS (Circulatory Risk in Communities Study) is an ongoing dynamic cohort study involving approximately12,000 people from 5 communities in Akita, Ibaraki, Osaka, and Kochi, initiating in 1963, which is considered to beone of the oldest large cohort study of the Japanese. The standardized baseline survey has been performed every yearintroducing new survey items accordingly, and followed-up to determine incident stroke and coronary heart disease.In this review, we overviewed the characteristics of CIRCS and novel risk/beneficial factors for stroke, especially lipid-related factors.第39回日本脳卒中学会講演　シンポジウム 総説
