The substantive coccum, used frequently in Latin, has numerous derivatives in Romance. From this word come coco and coca; but, given its polysemic and homonymic complexity, we still need to establish to what extent. In the present paper we propose that the words cocho and cochino come from the adjectives cocceus and coccῐnus. Cocceus, coccea and coccῐnus, coccῐna are also the etymological bases of chichi, chocha, chucho and cochinilla
