In 1845 Marx wrote the Theses on Feuerbach, where he explicitly emphasized the essential place of Praxis in his new world outlook; and during the same year, he started writing the part of The German Ideology which also criticizes Feuerbach. These are two texts of similar content; but because of their respective eventful history of publication they could not be compared to each other until the twenties of last century, when the second one was finally published. From this historical observation, this article aims to show the existence of an intellectualist reading of the ambiguous terms that Marx used in the Theses to define Praxis. Historical considerations will be complemented, then, with a thorough philological analysis of such misunderstandings, and with a reflection on their ethical-political consequences.
