我々は面状発熱体を使用した新式の電気温鍼器を作成し, 健常人男性2人で, 温鍼器を人体腰部に当て, 放熱温度に関する測定を, 旧式の豆電球方式の電気温鍼器と比較検討を行った。その結果, 旧式と新式を比較すると, 旧式の2段階が新式の5チャンネルに相当することがわかり, また温鍼器中央温度は, 旧式と新式で立ち上がりは同じでほぼ同様の曲線を描き, 10分後には140℃程度に達した。しかし, その後旧式では, 温鍼器の中央温度が上昇し続けたのに対し, 新式ではプラトーに達し, 新式の方が安全性に優れていると考えられた。また19例を対象に, 新式の5チャンネルで有効方剤と電気温鍼耐久時間の関係を検討すると, 10分未満では陽証, 30分以上では陰証 (特に烏頭, 附子含有方剤) の方剤が有効であった。耐久時間と証に一定の相関が認められたことより, 新式の電気温鍼器は証の決定に有効な補助手段に成りうると考えられた。
