漢代に成立した『黄帝内経』の以前もしくは以後の関係文献から, 手技 (按摩) 療法の発祥及び発展状況を考察したところ, 次の事項を確認した。中国における按摩療法の起源は, 甲骨文や『周禮』の記述から殷周代に求められ,『扁鵲伝』に按摩治法の名やその治効作用が示されていることから, その発祥を春秋戦国期に遡ることが出来る。また,『五十二病方』に按摩療法の記述が見られることは, 按摩治法が既に秦漢以前に行われていたことを実証するものである。そして『養生方』『神農本草経』などの薬物書において「摩」の術が膏薬と共に用いられていたことは,『黄帝内経』での「按」の術との表現が異なってはいるが, 按摩施術が存在していたことを裏付けている。以上のことから按摩療法は少なくとも周代には既に他の治法と共に併用されていた。しかし「按」と「摩」の術としての発展過程の相違が伺われ, 今後この点の検討を要する。
