乳児に対し漢方治療を考える際, 漢方薬の持つ独特の匂いと味が問題となることがある。乳児の皮膚疾患に対して母親に漢方薬を飲ませることにより, 母乳を通して治療を試みたところ, 効果的であったので報告する。症例は10例で, 脂漏性湿疹1例, アトピー性皮膚炎9例。アトピー性皮膚炎9例のうち, 母親にアトピー性皮膚炎を認めたもの5例, 認めなかったもの4例であった。治療経過は全例良好で10例中9例で1か月から1年4か月の経母乳投与で廃薬に至った。しかし1例では4か月の経母乳投与で断乳したが皮疹は完全に消失しなかったため, その後患児が1年7か月漢方治療を継続し, 廃薬に至っている。母親がアトピー性皮膚炎の場合, 母親の治療をも兼ねているが, 乳児の皮疹が比較的短期間改善するのに対し母親の皮疹は難治であることが多かった。
