Sporting spectacle and sport practice are historically considered as the two parts of a whole, naturally having close and diverse ties. However, these ties are expressed in a sport pyramid which has been jeopardized over the past decades : Sport is not anymore systematically practiced in entities affiliated to the national associations; the access to top-level sport is becoming "tailor-made"; professional sport is managed by sport companies; competitions are developed outside the federal system; etc. May this societal evolution threaten the sporting spectacle ? This article will provide an answer to this question through two case studies. The first one will tackle the host of mega sport events and will check if hosting such events encourages the sport practice. The second one will question the correlations that may exist between the number of licensees in a discipline and the number of spectators/tv viewers.Sport-spectacle et pratique sportive sont historiquement considérés comme les deux parties d’un tout, entretenant, naturellement, des liens étroits et multiples. Mais, la pyramide sportive au sein de laquelle ces liens s’expriment traditionnellement vacille depuis quelques décennies : la pratique ne se fait plus systématiquement dans les associations sportives affiliées aux fédérations nationales ; l’accès au sport de haut niveau est de plus en plus pensé sous forme de "tuyau" et de "sur-mesure" ; le sport professionnel est géré dans des sociétés sportives ; des compétitions se développent hors du giron fédéral ; etc. Cette évolution sociétale est-elle de nature à menacer le spectacle sportif ? Nous tenterons de répondre à cette question au travers de deux études de cas. La première s’intéressera aux grands évènements sportifs en vérifiant si l’accueil de telles manifestations favorise effectivement la pratique sportive du plus grand nombre. La seconde s’interrogera sur les corrélations entre le nombre de pratiquants en club d’une discipline (licenciés) et le nombre de spectateurs / téléspectateurs
