3'-Methy1-4- (dimethylamino) azobenzene (3'-Me-DAB) 投与期間中におけるglucose (U-14C) の代謝をラジオレスピロメトリーを用い検討した。peak time (PT) は, 3'-Me-DAB投与後2週目から早まる傾向を示し, 4週目で極限に達し, 5週目で著しく遅れた。peak height (PH) は45週目で対照群より低い値を示した。yield value (YV) はこの間顕著な変化は見られなかった。PTの早まる変化とα-fetoproteinの一次陽性反応との間には相関が認められた。解糖系酵素活性は3'-Me-DAB投与後4週目でhexokinaseのみに上昇が認められ.pyruvate kinaseは逆に3'-Me-DAB投与後5週まで70%の抑制率でインヒビットされた。がん化細胞における, PT, PH, YVおよび酵素活性変動はいずれも初期発がん過程とは異なった。
