Through a metavisual investigative activity, it was proposed to undergraduate students from a Brazilian public university to propose explanatory models about a chemical reaction between ions. For this, some tools were used, such as facebook, google forms, among others, to perform the task remotely. To conduct this research, two questions were asked, focusing on the facilities and difficulties in carrying out the activity at a distance through digital technologies and to what extent, there would be evidence of reconstruction of chemistry concepts. The conversations were transcribed, the drawings and self-assessments analyzed. The results indicate the understanding of chemistry as a category common to facilities and difficulties. On the one hand, working in pairs and with the help of digital technologies has helped to achieve good results, while understanding chemistry has sometimes been difficult, due to a lack of chemical concepts. As for the reconstruction of these concepts, it can be seen that they occur partially, indicating good learning possibilities, although students often focus on the most superficial aspects of images and, therefore, mediation by the teacher is necessary.
