デジタルコンテンツ技術の歴史は、必ずしも計算機とともに歩んでいるとは限らない。しかし昨今の計算機基盤技術の発展が、デジタルコンテンツ技術に大きな影響を与えている事例は数々ある。このことから、デジタルコンテンツ技術のさらなる普及と発展のためには、デジタルコンテンツ制作者も計算機基盤技術に精通しておいて損はない、と考えられる。本論文では非常に多種にわたる計算機基盤技術の中から、XML、電子透かし、Webサービス、グリッドコンピューティングを題材にして、これらの技術の概要を述べるとともに、今後のデジタルコンテンツ技術との関連性について議論する。
