The purpose of this article is to understand how bullying came about, how it manifests itself in schools and its consequences for a group of individuals known as bullying. The methodology used was the critical review of the literature, based on scientific articles indexed in the Scielo and Pepsic databases from 2005 to 2017 about the concept and studies carried out on the phenomenon of bullying or peer victimization at school, besides analyzing the attitudes aggressors, ie those who cause bullying. The motivation to conduct this research was due to informal observations of students' daily life and also to intense discussions on the theme of aggression and violence within the school environment. Bullying is defined as a type of aggression (physical or psychological) that occurs in pairs and repetitively, in students at all school levels and is not different between social classes. In all the long-term stakeholders, serious consequences are noted that include depression and even suicidal tendencies (victims) or even disregard for laws with challenging attitudes towards authorities.
