Este artigo analisa as principais estratégias de reprodução social adotadas por famílias rurais pobres de municípios do Território Meio Oeste Contestado, localizado no oeste de Santa Catarina. O dinamismo socioeconômico dessa região, ditado por agroindústrias que têm a agricultura familiar como principal fornecedora de matéria-prima, contrasta com a persistência de um contingente expressivo de famílias rurais pobres, tanto de agricultores familiares quanto de assalariados rurais, objeto de análise neste trabalho. Observou-se a existência de estratégias de reprodução social que são comuns às duas categorias, relacionadas às condições de acesso à terra e de moradia. Afirma-se também que a compreensão das principais estratégias adotadas por essas categorias sociais é fundamental para a proposição de políticas públicas voltadas à superação da pobreza rural. This article analyses the main social reproduction strategies adopted by poor rural families from municipalities of the Territory Meio Oeste Contestado, located in west of Santa Catarina. The socio-economic dynamism of this region dictated by agroindustries that have the familiar agriculture as the principal supplier of raw material contrasts whit the persistence of expressive contingent of poor rural families, such those ones of agriculturists and rural workers, which constitutes the the object of analysis in this paper. It was established the existence of common social reproduction strategies to both categories and specific conditions related to the access to land and housing. It is also argued that the understanding of the main strategies adopted by these social categories is essential for proposing public policies aimed at overcoming rural poverty.
