EnglishThis article presents the core of the votive tablets that decorate the old chapel of the Santuario de Nosso Senhor Jesus do Calvario in Parada de Pinhao, Portugal, an ideal place for familiarity and meditation. Until recently the old chapel kept hanging with nails on the walls 67 votive offerings. An ex-voto is a votive offering to the saint that was given in fulfillment of a vow, in gratitude or devotion. The tablets, in rectangular shape and variable measures, oil painted on a sheet of wood or iron, includes text explaining a miracle attributed to the saint. Some of them are dated (from 1852 to 1865) and are examples of popular art. Ex-votos are sources of information on the religious minds of the second half of the 19th century. portuguesEste estudo debruca-se sobre o nucleo de tabuas votivas existente na capela velha do Santuario de Nosso Senhor Jesus do Calvario na freguesia de Parada de Pinhao. Este local encerra sobre si as condicoes necessarias para a implantacao de um santuario cristologico: elevacao e isolamento propicio a meditacao e intimidade. E um pequeno monte-sagrado, no "cimo " da povoacao, coreograficamente o golgota. Nesta capelinha eram guardadas, ate algum tempo, penduradas na parede com argolas e pregos, 67 tabuas votivas e outros ex-votos. Os ex-votos foram ai colocadas, em cumprimento de promessas pelas gracas concedidas pelo "Santo". Oferecidas em cumprimento de um voto ou promessa feita para obter uma graca. Com devocao, isto e, com vontade de servir a Deus, directa ou indirectamente, e subordinado a sua gloria e beneplacito toda a vida. Os ex-votos sao exemplo desta espontânea e popular pratica religiosa. As tabuas, de forma rectangular e de medidas variaveis, pintadas a oleo, sobre madeira de castanho (material nobre, duravel e excelente absorvente da tinta a oleo) talhada e polida com grosa; ou sobre chapa de ferro, com ou sem caixilho, eram mandadas pintar pela comissao, como assinalam algumas tabuas. Das que estao datadas, apenas consta o ano, remontando a primeira a 1852 e a ultima a 1865. Sao um exemplo de arte sacra popular; constituem uma fonte para o estudo da mentalidade religiosa na segunda metade do sec. XIX.
