Oposisi biner merupakan keniscayaan di tengah konteks kontestasi identitas yang mengedepankan adu argumentasi dan kesalingan untuk menguji klaim kebenaran. Dalam rangka merespons oposisi biner, muncul elaborasi-elaborasi teoretis yang berpretensi melampaui oposisi biner, sebagaimana konsepsi Richard Kearney mengenai metaxu , konstruksi Homi K.
