The author shows on the example of several river basins that the erosive processes in the central part of the Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mts, North Moravia, depend not only on the natural conditions, but also on the human activities, especially the using of heavy forest tractors. In the future the growing erosion and sedimentation will endanger the production of drinking water in the Ostrava region.
