The article discusses the process of gripping the working surface of the spiral, the parts of the rod catcher by the outer surface of the body of fiberglass rods. A diagram of this capture is shown. The diagram shows the forces acting on the gripping surface, between the fiberglass rods and the inner surface of the helix. The greater roughness of the outer surface of the fiberglass rods contributes to their more efficient grip.
