Chest pain is mentioned as one of the main complaints reported by patients admitted to the Emergency Department (ED). The demand for providing care to patients with cardiac chest pain is related to the significant impact that heart diseases have on the world population, as they are considered to be the leading cause of death in Brazil and worldwide.1 In order to meet this demand, a triage scale was created, in these departments, based on the guidelines established by the National Humanization Policy (PNH Política Nacional de Humanização) and QualiSUS.
