Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in developed countries.1 According to the chronic disease report, there are about 2 million patients with CAD in Turkey1. About 17 million people all over the world and 200 000 living in Turkey are losing their lives because of cardiovascular diseases.2 Along with developing technology, a general rise in the consumption of high-fat and high-calorie foods and a decrease in physical activity have led to an increase in atherosclerosis and hypertension.
