The objective of this research is to characterize the pH variability in the Quillcay subbasin, based on direct point measurements. To this end, data collection was carried out in different points of the subbasin within three microbasins in 2016 and 2017.  In total, thirty-seven points were measured within  the Quillcay subbasin: ten in the Cojup microbasin, seventeen in the Quillcayhuanca microbasin and ten in the Shallap microbasin. The measurements in the microbasins were analyzed in order to determine trends that show if the values exceed the Environmental Quality Standards for Water (Water EQS). In addition, a geological survey was carried out in the headwaters of the Quillcay subbasin in order to identify the geological formations, from which it was possible to determine zones of alteration and the outcrop of an andesitic porphyry in the Cayesh Valley, which contains acidgenerating minerals. To show the glacial retreat, the headwaters of the microbasins were analyzed by comparing satellite images retrieved from Google Earth Pro on September 7, 2018. The images to be compared were obtained using the Google Earth Pro tool (Image History) that yielded images from October 2013 and July 2017.
