S: Mr. Tovar Llorente was rector of the University of Salamanca during the first half of the 1950. During those years in the 20th century and given his status at the university, he gave priority to linguistic studies. We shouldn’t forget that he is a professor of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters. He has always also been on different languages and it philogenetic studies. Thanks to Mr. Tovar’s work and effort, we today can enjoy the new section of Modern Philology with no precedents in Spain. It would be really difficult to understand our present University without these studies. The present essay is targeted to analyse the work which has been made during several years. Nevertheless, his most important contribution consists of boosting a faculty anchores in classical knowledges. This way, he manager to give a different identity to the faculty aimed at both Latin America and its inclusion into the European intelectual life.
