EFEKTIVITAS INTERVENSI SELF-MANAGEMENT TERHADAP ADHERENCE TO RECOMMENDED REGIMEN PADA KLIEN SKIZOFRENIA DI WILAYAH PUSKESMAS PURWADADI KECAMATAN PURWADADI KABUPATEN CIAMIS

Schizophrenia is still a severe mental disorder that’s found in the community. Management of clients with schizophrenia needs to be managed in an integrated manner to produce optimal improvement and prevent recurrence. Adherence to recommended regimen is one of the most important things for schizophrenia clients. Self-management interventions are one method that helps clients to manage their chronic conditions. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of self-management interventions on adherence to recommended regimens in schizophrenic clients in the community. The research method used was quasi experimental with one-group pretest-posttest design. The number of samples in this study were 42 people with inclusion criteria: cooperative clients, clients who were diagnosed with schizophrenia for more than 2 years, aged 18-60 years, can communicate verbally, are willing to participate in the research process, have family members who can be involved in the study , clinically stable with PANSS score 78-61. Data were collected twice by using the adherence to recommended regimen questionnaire. The results showed that the average score of adherence to the recommended regimen behavior pre-test was 7.81 and post-test was 10.86. Statistical test with marginal homogeneity obtained p value> 0,000. It was concluded that there were significant differences in the pre-test scores and post-test scores after intervention. Self-management program intervention is effective as an additional therapy for schizophrenia clients to adherence to the recommended regimen behavior. Further research is needed with a quasi-experimental research design with control more visible difference from the intervention provided.
