The family structure of older Nigerians is projected to change dramatically as a result of increasing levels of single-person and couple-only households, very low fertility, non-marriage, childlessness, and divorce, and declining intergenerational coresidence. This study examined the structure of the family system on the utilization of healthcare services among older persons in Ajah community, Lagos State. It has been well established that the changing family structure influences the wellbeing of older people in the society. The study employed the Family Systems and Dependency paradigms as theoretical frameworks to analyse the subject matter. The study adopted purposive sampling method to select participants and respondents for qualitative data. Findings revealed that parent-children relationship and support of family members (especially children) are closely linked with appropriate usage of healthcare facilities
