INTRODUCTION Breast carcinoma is common cancer in females in developing and developed countries. Breast cancer has ranked number one cancer among Indian females with age adjusted rate as high as 25.8 per 100,000 women and mortality of 12.7 per 100,000 women (1). There is a signicant increase in the incidence and cancer-associated morbidity and mortality in Indian subcontinent as described in global and Indian studies (2-5). The lower breast cancer survival rates are associatedwith lack of early detection programs, advanced stage of disease at the time of presentation, lack of functional diagnostic and treatment facilities and limited accessibility to professional care (6).
