HEMATOMA EXTRADURAL DE VÉRTEX: A PROPÓSITO DE UM CASO CLÍNICO

Vertex extradural hematomas (VEHs) are rare entities with a mortality rate between 18 and 50%. VEHs are highly associated with vertex fractures and cranial suture diastasis. We present the case of a young male patient who presented TBI after falling from his own height during collective physical activity, resulting in loss of consciousness followed by intense headache and persistent vomiting. Cranial CT scan was performed, which has evidenced VEH and diastatic fracture of the sagittal suture, associated with frontobasal and bifrontal hemorrhagic contusion. It was decided to perform conservative treatment in intensive care unit, performing serial neurological and imaging exams. The patient maintained headache durin the hospitalization, evolving with incomplete paresis of the right abducens nerve, fully resolved at the 10th day. After hospital discharge, the patient maintained ambulatory follow-up, presenting complete resolution of the hematoma after 60 days; however, he presented bilateral anosmia throughout the period of follow-up.
