This paper analyzes the use of CAD/CAM Systems (Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing) during the design and production stages in the Brazilian jewelry industry sector. CAD/CAM systems are used in different industrial sectors (including jewelry) to improve the product designs evaluation at the first development steps. This research presents as conclusion that CAD/CAM applications can improve the jewel design solutions, solving problems as integration between design and production phases. However, the results demonstrate problems related to financial limitations in the jewelry companies in Brazil and low preparation by Brazilian professionals involved in the product development process (especially industrial designers) to an adequate use of CAD/CAM systems.
