The Qizilbash Turkman are nomadic tribes who played an important role in the establishment of the Safavid Empire. They lived under the sovereignty of various states in Anatolia, Syria and Iran and interacted with different cultures. The Chub-i Tariq (stick touch) tradition of the Qizilbash Turkman has been employed for different purposes throughout history. The attempt to build mythological origins in such traditions has been observed in all traditional societies living independent of institutional belief systems. This tradition, which contains mythological elements and occupies an important place in the social lives of the Qizilbash Turkmans, is to be evaluated within the context of a transition ritual in this study. Stick touch, which is carried out for various purposes during Cem ceremonies of the Qizilbash Turkman, is described in the books called “Buyruk,” which were written under the influence of the Safavids and which have been considered to be sacred by the Qizilbash tribes. Stick touch was identified with the mythological elements and it was related to Imam Ali, especially by the Qizilbash Turkman. These books, which are the main written sources of the Qizilbash Turkman, explain and describe the ways of conducting and the purposes of stick touch. The aim of this study is to examine the importance of stick touch tradition, which has been conducted as a transition ritual
