Percepção dos Escolares sobre a Prevenção das Enteroparasitoses / Perception of Schoolchildren about the Prevention of Enteroparasitoses

Parasitis is still a major public health problem in Brazil. Morbidity and mortality rates worldwide result from intestinal parasitosis infections are high, including in developing countries. Parasites infections can affect individuals in any age group being the highest rate in preschool and school children. This study aims to evaluate and expand knowledge about prevention of intestinal parasites in school-age children. This is a field study of descriptive nature, cross-sectional with quantitative approach, carried out in the municipality of Gravatá-PE, in a Municipal School. The instrument used for research was a questionnaire made by the researcher containing related subjects on preventive measures to control intestinal parasites in schoolchildren. Thirty-five students participated in the study, 15 (43%) female sand 20 (57%) of the age group of 10 to 14 years. The prevalence of intestinal parasites occurs in a varied way in the world, and hygiene, housing and lack of basic sanitation may be associated. Health education is an important tool of great importance to be applied, as it aims to guide the population about parasites infections as well as their means of transmission.
