Avaliação da política de saúde do homem na atenção primária de um município do agreste Pernambucano

Objective: To verify how the National Policy for Integral Attention to Men’s Health is developed in the Basic Health Units in the city of Lajedo-PE, Brazil. Methods: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional research was conducted with 27 male users of the Unified Health System and nine primary care nurses from the municipality mentioned above, using a questionnaire. Results: The interviewed men recognize the importance of health services and show satisfaction with the care received at the place, however, the male presence is still scarce in the health units – fact evidenced by the small sample of participants in the survey (27). It was also verified the need for the professional qualification in relation to the nurses' knowledge about the Health Policy of Man. Conclusion: The implementation of that policy was not presented effectively in the city searched, and it was necessary to reformulate strategies and actions in health in order to obtain more expressive results.
