ANÁLISE DA EVOLUÇÃO DA ÁREA COLHIDA, PRODUÇÃO E PRODUTIVIDADE DA CULTURA DA BANANA EM IGUATU – CE / ANALYSIS OF THE EVOLUTION OF THE HARVESTED AREA, PRODUCTION AND PRODUCTIVITY OF THE BANANA CULTURE IN IGUATU – CE

In Ceará, there are a large number of producers who explore the banana culture, either in a unique way or as a main crop. In such fact lies the great importance of this culture for the State. However, there is a great loss of fruit during its production and commercialization process. Thus, the objective of the work was to analyze the evolution of the banana area, production and productivity in the municipality of Iguatu. For this, being carried out analysis by specific product with data collected from primary sources with the application of questionnaires for banana producers and secondary data collected in various institutions related to agricultural production, linear regression will be used for the evolution of areas and production from 1990 to 2009. There was an increase in harvested area, production and banana yield respectively at a positive growth rate of around 4.99%, 26.38% and 20.15% on average, in the period considered. In the evolution of the area, a maximum value of 500 ha was observed in 2001 and a minimum of 160 ha in 1990, with a total production of 9,125,000 tons and an average yield of 25,000 kg / ha in 2009.
