Brazil is recognized for its mineral wealth, both in terms of quantity and diversity of products. In the exploration of the Brazilian mineral activity, despite countless criticisms as to its predatory form, it was determinant for the development of some regions. Gems and Jewels are part of the set of Mineral-based APLs that represent a valuable strategic tool for articulating and integrating policies to support regional and local development in small and medium-scale mining. This article aims to present the importance of the Gems and Jewels sector in Brazil, and identify the amount of Gems and Jewels APL that have been created over the years. As for the method and design, the research is classified as qualitative, and as for the type of research, it can be classified as exploratory. In this sense, this study began with bibliographic research, through the concepts and categories present in articles, books, databases of the REDE DE APL MINERAL and the Brazilian Observatory of APL (OBAPL). Among the results of the research, it is worth mentioning that it is notorious that Gemstone Sectors, as well as the Mineral Sector as a whole, lack greater initiatives, both from private and public agents, thus having promising market spaces for small, medium and large companies, in addition to individual initiatives. And that despite the lack of data accuracy in the identification of gemstone and jewelry APLs, it was observed that the quantity has been growing every year, in which 27 gemstone APLs were identified, in which the Southeast region stands out with the largest quantity, in addition to greater production together with the Northeast.
